Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Revealed

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile place.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.

Viewers can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
